It"s also shown that, while never expressing it, he truly cares for his family, due to him immediately rescuing Luffy when he is first introduced, as well as Ivankov stating that Dragon is not the type who would do nothing if his son is about to die, though Iva had mistakened Ace for Dragon's son at the time. It is unknown how Dragon met Ivankov.
