All the sun beds were reserved by about 6:30am, people were moving beds from other areas and placing them right next to other peoples so no longer social distancing. All the pools have a bar next to it but it’s a bit of an uphill trek from the beach as there aren’t any facilities down there apart from a toilet. Was surprised we did not get asked if we had a nice holiday etc ‍♀️ The area: no beach which was disappointing, nowhere to walk to locally but there is a small supermarket on site that sells all the basics you may need. This part of north-east Crete has some of the best stretches of sand on the island. Check-out was simple but not as friendly as check-in. We stayed mainly under the trees overlooking the sea while sunbathing, and it was beautiful (if a bit noisy every now and again due to the cicadas in the trees). It’s got a bumper crop of facilities, too, including watersports, sunloungers and sand-side tavernas. Staff were excellent and encouraged everyone to participate in the activities without going over the top. The hotel is very remote (one hour 15 minute transfer from Heraklion) but there is a small train you can get to travel to small villages if you want a bit of sight seeing and two car rental companies within the hotel grounds as well as an ATM.
